My Cat
Sadie: (Full name Sativa Clarissa Alkinsky)
We adopted a 2 year old cat around Independence Day in 2009 from HOPE (HOMELESS & ORPHANED PETS ENDEAVOR), an all-foster, no kill adoption group based in the Houston area. Sadie is a sweet, mellow, well-behaved Texas girl born-and-raised. She was on vacation in Pennsylvania between Thanksgiving 2009 and January 20, 2010, staying with my sister while my husband and I did quite a bit of traveling.
She’s the sweetest cat I’ve ever had: loving, playful, friendly, well-behaved, soft and pretty.
I recently got a few pictures of her from her foster mother Pat at HOPE, who rescued Sadie from the street after Hurricane Ike when she only weighed 6 pounds. I’m so thankful to Pat for saving her and for all her efforts in getting wonderful cats adopted out to their “forever” homes. The sad thing I saw was how quickly kittens are adopted, while the lovely adult cats, even those that are barely out of kitten-hood, are ignored. Everybody wants a cute kitten.
Sadie (Pat called her Millie) spent her weekends at various PETCOs and adoption centers for nearly a year. Here she is dressed for Easter last year:
